Author Tyra Hughes’ SOS is written not to ‘SAVE OUR SHIP’, as the original acronym stood for.
After seeing so many people heartbroken, miserable, and in ungodly, unequally yoked and just plain crazy ‘why in the heck are you there’ relationships — which she calls ‘THE TRAP’ — Tyra felt God’s calling to wave ‘THE WHITE FLAG’ by using her voice and observations from an early age to the present, as well as her own experiences to ‘Stop the MADNESS’!!!
SAVE OUR SELVES became her SOS to refuse to be caught up in the trap any longer. God created the first relationship, the first ‘Soulmates’, as well as the first ‘TEAM’. They were on the ‘same side’.

Tyra Hughes, in her college years, studied English creative writing under the tutelage of Louisiana’s newly appointed Nobel Poet Laureate, Dr. Mona Lisa Saloy.
It was there that she discovered her voice and burden for people and relationships. Dr. Saloy validated Tyra as an awesome writer, even though she was under scholarship for Theater and Speech Communications.
